ABOUT US
We're a small dedicated team so we care about the artists we work with. We know music publishing contributed £524 million in GVA in 2019, an increase of 14% on 2018 and that R&B/Hip-Hop was up to 211.04 million in audio album consumption units for 2020. There are a lot of opportunities for black music and its creators and we're here to help with the access to those opportunities.
Our 'why'
In 2020 three percent of employees in the UK music publishing industry identified as Black or Black British according to a study.
We decided to set up syncd:in to serve underrepresented artists - those that would normally get overlooked due to location and access to necessary resources. We wanted to represent those that looked like us as well as make an impact to diversity within the UK music industry.
Vision
On a trip to Ghana, we noticed that there were a lot of similarities with where we are from in the UK (Birmingham) with regards to accessing opportunities through publishing and sync. We spoke to numerous music industry professionals and found there was a lack of knowledge around music publishing and sync - artists were missing out. Looking at the music, we knew quality wasn’t the issue. We knew artists were missing out on vital income. We're making a difference to African creators - bringing them access to the industry that their music helps to dominate.
